To Timberline

We had family visit for another birthday a few weeks ago. Someone wanted to drive up to Timberline (Mt. Hood Oregon) to see if there were any wildflowers. I've been to Mt. Hood 2-3 times, always in winter, despite the fact that I'm not a skier. So this was the first time I'd been to Timberline Lodge in the summer and it was beautiful as ever.

While there were some wild flowers, they were scarce and I'm not sure how wild they were. Lupine showing up along the main road and walking paths with occasional clumps of phlox. But even in July it was the mountain and it's cousin, Mt. Jefferson in the distance, that stood out.

the only thing that came to my mind was 'zamboni'

After we left Timberline Lodge we stopped at Trillium Lake a campground at the base of the mountain. See all that green? This is why we love the northwest.
